Edgard Corona is the owner and senior executive of SmartFit and Bio Ritmo, gym networks with gym units all over Brazil and Latin America. During the pandemic, the gym network suffered a heavy blow as people were forced to stay indoors and would not attend the gyms.

After the pandemic, people are going back to their normal workout routines, and SmartFit is gradually reviving its normal operations and is expected to open more gym stores. Despite the gym networks offering millions of shares to upcoming gym academies, their stock shares have risen, which has increased their value.

Edgard Corona has more than three decades of experience in physical fitness. Though he did not start his career as a gym enthusiast, he has grown to be the owner of one of the largest fitness industries in the world. He later sold his clothing stores to work at his family’s sugar mill as a chemical engineer. While working in the sugar mill, Edgard Corona thought it was a good idea to invest in an upcoming gym that was being built.

The idea of managing a gym came unexpectedly after Edgard Corona had a skiing accident. After the accident, Edgard decided to quit the family business and go for physiotherapy in the newly built Bio Ritmo gym. He then started being actively involved with the gym operations, which has led to his success.
