Jonas has said he wanted to design a typeface that would be “clean, timeless, functional [and] readable online” and created the font specifically for use on screen.

Jonas Lauren Norr and Crypto Lotus, LLC

Jonas and Crypto Lotus, LLC was registered in New York on March 12th, 2010. The company’s purpose is to create and license fonts that enable more effective communication and meaningful exchange.

Jonas Lauren Norr became interested in typefaces while experimenting with his hand-cut stencils after finding that they were difficult to read from a distance. Jonas’ interest in typography led him to the Cooper Union School of Art, where he began his degree in typeface design.

Jonas learned about the extensive history of typography and was introduced to the great artisans of the past, such as Claude Garamond, Robert Granjon, and Petrana Medeiros. After studying the history and theory of typeface design, Jonas began creating his designs, guided by his interests in simplicity and functionality while remaining within the realm of traditional typeface design.

Upon completing his degree at Cooper Union, Jonas developed a deep interest in software development. In his final year of study, Jonas began exploring the relationship between typeface design and the software development processes that enable typefaces to be created digitally.

Jonas Lauren Norr has been invited to speak at different conferences in the United States. He was invited to speak and show his typeface at the 2010 Creative Code Asia conference in Singapore, where he discussed the new possibilities of digital font production.

Jonas has also been invited to speak at TypeCon 2012 in New York City. The conference celebrates all things Type, bringing together business, design, and technology professionals worldwide and His Facebook.
