Marwan Salim Kheireddine,  Lebanese Banker and Chairman of AM Bank

Mr. Kheireddine co-authored with Randa Takieddine the book “Lebanese Political Economy: An Indispensable Guide”, published in 2011 by Dar el-Machreq, Beirut. This book is the first history of economic thought in Lebanon and one of the most important books about Lebanese economy published so far.

In this position Mr. Kheireddine has led the transformation of AM Bank and its subsidiaries, both in terms of their portfolio management, corporate governance and growth strategy. Under his guidance, AM Bank has developed a leading international banking platform and is one of the first Lebanese banks to adopt Islamic finance.

Mr. Kheireddine is author of the main reference book about Islamic finance in the MENA region, “Capital Markets Development in the MENA Region: Assessing the Impact of Islamic Finance” published by IOS PRESS Amsterdam in 2010. In this book, he details how Islamic finance will be developed in the Middle East and North Africa region, and explains how it can be an effective tool for economic and financial development.

Mr. Kheireddine is also the author of “Capital Markets and Islamic Finance” published in 2005 by Capital Market Analysis Foundation (CMAF).

This book is the first book that explains the mechanics of Islamic finance and its potential use in capital markets, interesting to those who are interested in this new sector.

In the 2015 ranking of the Arab Business News and Events, Kheireddine was ranked 69th in the list of “100 most influential Arabs” by Arabian Business magazine, which described him as “the Lebanese banker that everyone is talking about”.

Also in 2015, he received the prestigious IFC Islamic Finance Development Award in Washington DC, in recognition of his services to the development of Islamic finance.

In 2013, Marwan Kheireddine was elected as the first Chairman of LMA, a new initiative to encourage cooperation and harmony between banks in Lebanon.
