Vijay Eswaran is a high-profile CEO of QI Group, one of the largest personal care product manufacturers in Asia and Europe.
Vijay Eswaran studied at the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He embarked on his career by heading up the company’s operations outside the United States, Japan, and China. He is also a self-made man who started working as an engineer with Unilever in 1983.
He spent three years working on detergents before moving to Singapore to work for Unilever from 1986-1988.
From 1990-1995, Eswaran was director of personal care and marketing for Asia at Unilever Australia Pty Ltd before leaving to work on his projects in Malaysia and Singapore. He was then appointed co-managing director of Halogen Pte. Ltd., the trade name of QI (Qi Group), in 1997.
From 2000-2003, he was president and chief executive officer of Petrochemicals, chairman of Haigen Pte Ltd, and general manager of Haogen’s subsidiary, Unipalm International Pte Ltd.
He was also chairman of the board of directors for the six companies in Haagen Pte. Ltd.
Vijay Eswaran has served as a director on many multinational corporations, including Unilever and Unipalm International, where he admits to being a “hands-on” manager. He is also active at the Singapore Tourism Board and on the board of Singapore’s State Fund for Temasek Holdings, 51 percent owned by Temasek Holdings. This conglomerate runs international investments, including Citibank and Merrill Lynch Capital Services Ltd.
His profile is impressive, and he has an interesting back story that makes him all the more interesting to follow up on.
As the managing director of QI Group, Eswaran’s primary duties include administration and business strategy.
He is also a member of the board of directors for Unipalm International.
In 2008, he co-founded investment firm Fullerton Asset Management and its subsidiary Fullerton Financial Holdings.
